Black Sewer Swines Run Amok In Hampstead 1859

This year the theme for the AOI Prize for Illustration was: London Stories.
I decided to depicted the urban legend of the Black Sewer Swines.
The story goes, that there was a sow in the sewer that littered offspring and fed off the rubbish flowing down through the sewer.  These pigs were then feared to break out of the sewers and run riot, terrorising the people of Hampstead.  This urban legend grew and became so concerning that it was published in the Daily Telegraph in 1859.
